Kyokushin Karate My Life
For me Kyokushin Karate is a way of life, dragging myself out of bed every morning while feeling the pains from all the old and new injuries and health issues , I actually talk to my body and tell myself , I refuse to surrender to all the pains and I refuse to be the prisoner of this body that I am Living in. I train hard every day not to be ready for any promotion test or tournament nor to prove my power or toughness to any body, but to FEEL ALIVE and not merely living.
I started Martial Arts with Kung Fu at the age of 16, (34 years ago) in Birmingham- England, my teacher was an old Chinese grand master named master Yao, extremely tough and skillful with kind smile humoring me when I wanted to imitate Bruce Lee after six months of training.
I wish the very little wisdom that I have now, had it then so I would have lived a more meaningful life but I believe as long as we are alive never is to late, I suppose some of us have to fall down a few times and get up in order to make sense of our lives.
Before starting to practice Kyokushin Karate seriously I was practicing Shotokan Karate(up to Ni Dan) and had brief encounters with Kyokushin and loved it, already having injuries from martial arts doctors' recommendations were to quit KARATE all together, but I was crazy enough to Start Kyokushin Karate.
I decided to rebuild myself (Body & Mind) at all costs and there was no turning back, slowly but surely I did that.
True caring and knowledgeable teachers and coaches help their students to develop and flourish by devoting themselves to their students and knowing how to support, push and guide them through their journey on the path of Bubo. I had such teachers and try to be one myself.
I believe, one through hardships and extreme trainings toughens the body and pushes it beyond its humanly limits and to achieve this a disciplined mind is required, so the mind becomes disciplined and calm through the process.
For me THE ULTIMATE TRUTH is Realizing
THE TRUE VALUE AND POWER OF OUR TRUE SELVES - OUR SOULS. WE ALL CAN TRY TO BE PERFECT SOULS LIVING IN NOT SO PERFECT BODIES.(I WOULD NOT GIVE UP TRYING TIL THE LAST BREATH)
I Respect and with all my means support any person who challenges him/her self to become stronger in body and mind so to live with dignity a peaceful , happy life and free of all anxieties , frustrations , self pities and false needs created by the world around us.
