Training the Devoted Kyokushin Karate-ka
JOURNEY CAN BEGIN AT ANY AGE AND PHYSICAL CONDITION
REACHING BLACK BELT LEVEL IS THE END OF THE BEGINNING AND BEGINNING OF THE JOURNEY WITH NO END Even though the training sessions could have a little bit of fun added to them when after a period of intense training students get a break by applying the techniques on each other gently , listen to a brief explanation of the applications for the techniques practiced, OR a lower impact stretching and flexibility training following an intense endurance , technique , power training and sparring, the purpose of training is not to have fun, is to strive for excellence of spirit through extreme effort of body and mind, and the fun part of it is when the student feels the achievement after every session.
Classes are 1 hour for kids and 1 1/2 hour for Youths and adults, including meditation, a lot of push- ups , sit- ups , squat-kicks, resistance training, body conditioning and hitting the mitts spread out through the training session, After practicing each technique a few times students should apply the technique on each other lightly then on mitt strongly with full power. All ages and ranks spar with Sensei regularly in order to push themselves to their limits without receiving any injuries.
Training's intensity should be balanced so at the end of each session Students would be dripping with sweat but physically relaxed and mentally alive and energized.
SPARRING:No pads used as it gives you a false sense of protection, and you never develop your body especially your shins and forearms this way, and by wearing pads and hitting hard you only damage your joints, but by hitting lightly and continuously you develop your body.
My way is full contact fighting with controlled and correct techniques, never losing your temper, never fight with anger, never disrespectful to anyone (I absolutely would not allow it).

Students join my dojo with different mental and physical capabilities, strong points, short comings, attitudes and anxieties, my responsibility is to devote myself to each and every one of them and help them to become stronger, tougher, calmer and more peaceful human beings, happy with themselves,
LIVING IN THIS WORLD AS A POSITIVE FORCE.
SPARRING RULES:kicking to all body parts except groins, punching to all body parts except groins and face. Guards always up protecting the face, open hand strike(slap) to the face is allowed to remind the sparring partner to be alert at all times. Always adjusting your power according to the sparring partner's abilities and body tolerance(you could be an athletic young green belt facing a much older high ranking belt).
POWER WITHOUT HUMBLENESS IS WORTHLESS
RANKING:
The main criteria for promotion is student's FIGHTING SPIRIT. of course a 20 year old physically tough brown belt may be able to beat an sixty year old black belt physically but should not be able to break his/hers spirit. promotions should be with considerations to the student's abilities and efforts, for some one who can barely do one push-up and has anxiety to stand and do sparring, to actually in six months be able to do 15 push-ups and stands up and fight, its an achievement.
KATA:
Without the fighting spirit and good techniques a kata would look like a sloppy attempt to do a dance without any real benefits, so the number of the katas are few but practiced with great intensity.
